Looks different but basically, it is just another type of splitter, wherein it splits the computer's audio output into two making it possible for you to connect two speakers. So if you want to split, just design your own REVOLUTIONARY mp3player, dvd, vcd, radio, walkman, discman, amplifier, etc.. connector/splitter depending on what you need.

I'm looking for a very simple mixer (inverts splitting). I'm wondering how I could do it myself. And yeah, check your splitter if it splits the left and right channel to each output socket. I encountered one of those and I didn't like it.
Temporarily, I use a male-to-male (ack, that sounds so gay) cable that's connected to my MP3 player and my laptop's line in. Saves precious CPU cycles from my laptop.
